Messages To Kenya

For everything that was written in the past was written to
teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement
of the Scriptures we might have hope. Romans 15:4

I have been in contact and have corresponded with a native Kenyan minister over the last few years. He asked me to write something for an upcoming youth conference, so I did. I decided to share what I wrote on the Internet because it applies to anyone and everyone. I am not a minister just a Christian who desires to see God honored and to see His will done on earth. I will update this web page as I am able to share different things in the coming weeks and months.  Keith

Seeking God
April 2007

Hello young people of Kenya. My name is Keith Davidson I live in the Northwest corner of the United States in a city called Bonney Lake. I am a friend of Sylvester and have had the opportunity to write to him over the last few years through e-mail.

I want to talk to you about seeking God.

Psalm 14:2
The LORD looks down from heaven
      on the sons of men
      to see if there are any who understand,
      any who seek God.

What this means is God is looking deep into the hearts of men and women, young men and young women, boys and girls to see if there are any who have wondered honestly about God any who have desired to call out to Him to seek His blessing and favor.

This does not take anything special or unique, God will respond in love to anyone who will respond to Him. All this takes is a humble and repentant heart; in fact the Bible says that these are the things God esteems (or thinks highly of).

Isaiah 66:2
Has not my hand made all these things, and so they came into being?" declares the LORD. "This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word.

God does not esteem great knowledge, great wealth, great physical strength; He esteems a humble and contrite heart.

Contrite simply means you are sincerely sorry for the wrong you have done, the wrong that often has kept you from God.  There is nothing difficult about being sincerely sorry, you just need to ask God to forgive you and He will, and do this again and again and over and over in your life regardless of the mistakes you make.  In Psalm chapter 103 it says His love is as high as the heavens and His love is as far as the east is from the west. That means it is never ending! You can come again and again in the name of Jesus to the thrown room of Gods abundant grace.

Hebrews 4:16
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

Here is Hebrews 4:16 in the Amplified Bible (this translation helps to bring out more meaning from the original language the Bible was written in),

Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God's unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].

The Fathers love for you is tremendous, He desires beyond your imaginations to have a relationship and friendship with you, to meet you right where you are, to touch your life and to amaze you with His love.

Trust Him, hope in Him, seek Him, believe Him, cry out to Him. Never stop believing that He will reward anyone that continues to seek Him.  This is true and it is beyond God not to reward anyone of you that seek after Him. One man is not more important than another in His eyes, any and all that call upon Him without exception He will receive.

Who is this God that we would want to seek Him? How does the Bible describe Him? What does the Bible say about Him?

The Bible says God is love …
       John 4:16
        And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.
        God
is love.

It is His very nature to love us and to desire good for us.

God is all knowing, He sees all things, He is all-powerful, He can do all things. He is an incredible and magnificent God.

Psalm 145:3-7
Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise;
his greatness no one can fathom.

One generation will commend your works to another;
they will tell of your mighty acts.

They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and I will meditate on your wonderful works.

They will tell of the power of your awesome works,
and I will proclaim your great deeds.

          They will celebrate your abundant goodness
          and joyfully sing of your righteousness.

In Job 9:10 Job said this about God,
         He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed,
         miracles that cannot be counted.

A minister friend of mine named George was on a Christian missions trip in a country called Peru in South America in February of this year. A boy from a poor area had cut his foot on a piece of glass, it had become infected and he had no medical attention in this poor area. The boy came to a meeting my friend George was at. The boy was crying and in much pain, his leg was swollen from the infection, he had a high fever in his leg and head. He could easily die from an infection like this. My friend asked two young Christians to pray for the boy, God healed the boy, the pain left and the swelling went down. The boy’s mother then decided to accept Jesus in her heart because she caught a glimpse of this God who performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted.

Trust in this God because this God who performs wonders and miracles is also and more importantly a God of great love who wants to draw close to you as you draw close to Him.

Do not let the things of this world distract you from the goodness of God or cause you not to trust Him. Remember the Bible says the devil is the Father of lies. The devil wants to trick you into thinking God is not as good as He really is because the devil hates you and he hates God.

Just as importantly if you make a mistake if you fall into a trap of the devil, if you take a wrong turn and do something that God might not be pleased with, know for a certainty that God will be right there to forgive you when you ask; again and again. This is not so you can continue to sin this is so that you can have hope.

His love is great and He loves each and every one of you so much that He gave His perfect son Jesus to die for you,

1 John 4:9-10

This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.

The way has been made, the door has been opened, and hope has been given to any and all that with a sincere heart seek after God. He will not disappoint you; He will come to you and love you.

Psalm 145:14
The LORD upholds all those who fall
and lifts up all who are bowed down.

Psalm 145:18-19
The LORD is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.

          He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;
           he hears their cry and saves them.

 Psalm 14:2
 The LORD looks down from heaven
       on the sons of men
       to see if there are any who understand,
       any who seek God.

Let this be you that God finds! It can be!

God Bless all of you! May Gods love and grace fall abundantly on your lives. Perhaps someday the Lord will bless me and I will have the opportunity to visit you.

Keith Davidson

For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth. Psalm 57:10-11
